Book Reviews

Since I am now happily retired, I will share the wonderful books I have read with you.  Enjoy!

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett in 1980s
I wanted to read this book back in the 1980s when it came out, but with three young children, I could not commit.  In 2024, I listened to the 41 hour audiobook.  Follett is an engaging writer.  He has so many characters and subplots going on, but you want to, no have to keep reading to see what happens to the abandoned baby, the witch in the forest, the orphaned brothers who become monks, etc., etc.  It's a stark reminder of how hard life was in feudal Europe.  I loved that it spanned England, France, and even the Camino de Santiago in Spain  - a trip I hope to under take in the next few years.  **** 2024
